No electronic device is 100 percent reliable, including computers.
Computers may experience more problems than other electronic devices
because they are consist of so many components. Taking a computer to a
repair shop can be costly. There are many ways to easily repair a
computer yourself.
Replacing A Bad Hard Drive
Computer hard drives are known to crash from time to time. Also,
many computer users may need to upgrade their hard drives to make more
storage available. The easiest path to more storage or to replace a
crashed hard drive is to add an external drive. Most external drives
connect to your computer through an available USB port and are plug and
play. Those with very little computer knowledge should be able to add an
external drive without difficulty.
Broken Laptop Screen
Another common problem with laptops is the display. Laptop
displays, or screens, are fragile and tend to fail or break from time to
time. If you experience this and your warranty has expired, an easy fix
is available: an external monitor, which connects to your laptop via
DVI or VGA cable. If you need an adapter to accomplish this, they are
available at most electronic retailers for less than $15.
Broken CD or DVD Burner
If your CD and/or DVD burners fail, an external drive is a
reasonable option for replacement. Burners can be difficult and costly
to replace, especially in laptops. Solving this is a simple as
connecting an external drive via USB connection and installing drivers,
usually on the drive's accompanying CD or available by download at your
product's Web site.
Removing Spyware and Viruses
Many people take their computers to local repair shops to have them
cleaned of viruses and spyware, but there are many free spyware and
virus removal tools available for download online. One recommendation is
Spybot Search and Destroy. This program scans and removes spyware and
malware from your computer.
Replacing Computer Peripherals
If your keyboard or mouse fails, replacements are inexpensive and
easy to install. Some keyboards and mice may need drivers installed to
function fully. Those drivers usually are on a CD that comes with the
new devices.
