Review the terms and conditions of the "Business Development Agreement" and complete the Web application to register as an HP Partner. Wait for an email confirmation approving your request for membership in the HP Partner Network. In most cases, you should receive an approval, your HP Partner Network ID and program instructions in the HP Partnering Guide.

Browse to the HP Learning Center website (see Resources). Create a new account using your email address and HP Partner Network ID. Confirm your membership by clicking the activation link in the confirmation email you receive from the Learning Center website.

Log in to the HP Learning Center and browse the list of learning materials on the left side of the page to find courses and instructional materials for HP printers. Some online courses require a fee that you must pay with a credit card to gain access to instructional modules. Many service and troubleshooting guides are available on the site at no charge. Review the training materials and enroll in courses on the site as needed.

Click the "Get Certified" link in the HP Partner Portal. Register for certification examinations required to become an authorized HP printer technician. HP has several certification programs available for printer technicians depending upon the type of printer hardware and user environment that you want to support. Pay the exam fee. After paying the fee, you'll receive an email that provides a test authorization code.

Log in to the HP Portal website (see Resources). Click the "Get Certified" link. Click the "Certification Test" link. Enter your test authorization code and click "Submit." After the test application loads, follow the on-screen prompts to answer test questions and submit the exam for review.

Wait to receive the results of the online exams. If you pass the exams required for a specific printer repair certification, HP will send you a link to an online certificate that you can print out and display. Additionally, you'll receive a link to your personal transcripts where you can review courses that you've passed, as well as certifications you hold. You can also grant temporary access to your transcripts to others so they can verify your credentials.
